Des Moines, IA – Snow will return to Iowa on Saturday, bringing accumulating snowfall and a wintry mix, especially in northern areas. The heaviest snow is expected along and north of the Iowa-Minnesota border.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Des Moines, snowfall could extend as far south as Interstate 80. A wintry mix may also develop along the I-80 corridor in central Iowa, creating slick road conditions.

The probability of at least 0.1 inches of snow exceeds 90% in cities like Mason City and Algona. Areas near Decorah and Estherville have a 50% or greater chance of seeing over two inches of snow.

Snowfall will begin early Saturday morning and continue throughout the day. Travelers should expect reduced visibility and hazardous roads, particularly in northern Iowa.

Motorists are advised to check road conditions and weather updates before heading out. Plan extra travel time and drive cautiously in affected areas. The NWS urges residents to stay informed as forecasts may change.
