Davenport, IA – A storm system will bring rain and gusty winds to eastern Iowa on Tuesday, followed by a sharp temperature drop as spring officially begins later this week.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday’s high will reach 72°F before rain moves in, with winds gusting up to 35 mph. A 40% chance of rain begins after midnight Monday, increasing throughout the day Tuesday. Drivers should expect slick roads and possible delays, especially along I-74 and I-80.
By Tuesday night, temperatures will drop into the mid-30s, setting up a chance for rain to mix with snow by Wednesday evening. Wednesday’s high will hover around 60°F, but strong winds will make conditions feel cooler. Blustery conditions will persist into Wednesday night, with wind chills in the 20s.
The five-day forecast shows a major cooldown after the storm. Thursday will be sunny but much cooler, with a high of 48°F. Friday rebounds to 60°F with partly sunny skies. The weekend remains mild, with highs near 60°F and a slight chance of rain Saturday and Sunday.
As spring officially begins Thursday, temperatures will remain below average. Residents should prepare for a mix of warm, wet, and cold conditions as the season transitions.
