Davenport, Iowa – Damaging winds and strong storms could sweep across the Quad Cities area today, triggering a Marginal Risk for severe weather and possible flooding by evening.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the greatest threat arrives Tuesday afternoon and lingers into the early evening. Winds may gust over 40 mph, especially along major roadways like I-74 and US-61, making travel hazardous. Localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas, with 1 to 2 inches of rainfall expected by nightfall. Storms could also bring large hail and isolated tornadoes in areas southeast of a line from Davenport to Mount Pleasant.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue Tuesday night with lingering showers into early Wednesday. Temperatures drop to the upper 40s Tuesday night, then rebound to near 58°F Wednesday under mostly cloudy skies.

  • Monday: More rain possible with highs in the mid-70s.
