According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, sidewalks, parking lots, driveways, and decks are also slick with ice. Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution, especially at exit and entrance ramps, while turning, and when approaching intersections.
Some counties have suspended towing services due to the dangerous road conditions. Officials recommend avoiding unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
Residents should take extra precautions when walking outside, as icy surfaces increase the risk of falls. The winter weather is expected to persist, with freezing temperatures keeping roads slick overnight.
