Des Moines, IA – Residents across Iowa can expect a warm and hazy start to the week as wildfire smoke from the west moves into the region. Temperatures will remain in the 80s, with some areas potentially reaching the low 90s by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain mostly sunny on Monday, but the smoke is forecast to spread into western Iowa by the afternoon. This haze will persist through Tuesday and may linger into early Wednesday. While the smoke is expected to remain aloft, surface impacts should be minimal.

Breezy winds will accompany the haze, particularly in the northern and western parts of the state. Gusts could reach between 20-30 mph, making conditions windy throughout Tuesday. The dry forecast will persist through much of the week, with no significant precipitation expected.

Stay updated on local weather conditions, especially if you are sensitive to air quality changes due to the wildfire smoke.
