According to the National Weather Service, a line of showers and storms will likely form after 1 p.m. Thursday, bringing gusts up to 17 mph and isolated heavy rain. Carter Lake will see temperatures hit 88°F under partly sunny skies before storms develop.

Travelers along Interstate 29 near Carter Lake should prepare for brief visibility loss and ponding on roads. Rainfall amounts could top a quarter inch where storms hit hardest. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid flooded roads, and delay non-essential travel if storms intensify.

Thursday night stays humid with lows near 68°F. Rain chances taper off but isolated storms may linger before midnight.

Looking ahead, Friday brings relief with mostly sunny skies and highs around 91°F. Saturday will be even hotter, topping 95°F under mostly sunny conditions.
