Omaha, NE – Warmer temperatures and sunshine will dominate midweek before a strong system brings rain and gusty winds Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will see mostly sunny skies and a high of 71°F, with light winds from the southeast. Thursday will be even warmer, reaching 74°F, before clouds begin to build in the evening.

By Friday, conditions will shift. Strong south winds up to 30 mph will develop, bringing rain and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temperatures will peak near 75°F before dropping into the 30s overnight as winds shift northwest. Gusts could exceed 36 mph.

Saturday will start wet, with rain expected before 1 p.m., followed by clearing skies and cooler temperatures in the upper 40s. Blustery northwest winds will continue through the evening. Sunday brings a return to sunshine, but highs will struggle to reach 50°F.

Drivers along Interstate 80 should be cautious of reduced visibility and slick roads Friday evening. Travelers planning weekend trips should check forecasts for updated conditions.

The week starts with ideal spring weather, but the shift by Friday will impact outdoor plans and travel. Stay updated on changing conditions and prepare for strong winds and rain later in the week.
