Des Moines, Iowa – Showers and isolated thunderstorms could develop across central Iowa Wednesday afternoon, bringing brief disruptions before a stretch of dry spring weather takes hold.

Des Moines will warm to 81°F by Saturday and Sunday, with no significant rain threats on the horizon.

Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel during brief downpours, keep devices charged, and monitor local alerts as conditions evolve Wednesday evening. While severe weather is not expected, lightning and slick roads may accompany isolated cells.

The five-day forecast shows stable, warmer weather continuing through Monday, with highs in the low 80s and clear skies, making it an ideal stretch for spring events across Polk County.
