DAVENPORT, IA — A Parkview man is in custody this week after allegedly using GPS tracking technology to monitor a local couple.
The investigation began Wednesday, March 25, 2026, when a resident contacted authorities to report a suspicious discovery. The individual told deputies that he had located GPS tracking devices hidden on both his personal vehicle and his girlfriend’s car.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the call was received at approximately 4:06 p.m. Wednesday. Following the initial report, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division launched an investigation into the origin of the devices.
As a result of that investigation, deputies arrested and charged Chad M. Metcalf of Parkview with two counts of stalking. Sources indicate that Metcalf was allegedly monitoring the movements of the victims without their knowledge or consent.
Metcalf was subsequently transported to the Scott County Jail. According to officials, he is currently being held with no bond. While the arrest has been made, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office noted that the investigation remains ongoing.
In accordance with standard legal procedure, authorities emphasized that an arrest without disposition is not an indication of guilt, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
