St. Francisville, Mo. – Residents along the Iowa-Missouri border could see flooding begin by early Monday afternoon as the Des Moines River approaches flood stage near St. Francisville. The National Weather Service warns river levels may exceed 18 feet, pushing water over low banks and into surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, the river stood at 15.6 feet Saturday evening and is expected to crest near or above flood stage by Monday. A Flood Watch remains in effect for Clark County, Missouri, and Lee County, Iowa, through late Tuesday night.

Low-lying areas near the river, including farmland and access roads, may see water coverage during the peak. Emergency managers urge residents to keep vehicles and equipment away from flood-prone zones, avoid driving through water-covered roads, and monitor updates from local authorities.

Those living in flood-prone properties are advised to prepare now by moving valuables to higher ground and checking sump pumps. If conditions worsen, additional watches or warnings could be issued early next week.
