Davenport, Iowa – After a stretch of summer-like warmth, the Quad Cities will see temperatures drop and rain chances rise heading into the weekend, with a severe storm threat Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, strong to severe storms could develop east of the Mississippi River Friday, especially in the afternoon and evening. Wind gusts may reach up to 45 mph, and highs are expected to soar between 80 and 87 degrees.
By Saturday, cooler air will settle in with highs falling to the mid-60s and a mostly dry day expected. On Sunday, showers are likely to develop after 5 p.m., especially across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois, with rain chances continuing into Monday. Temperatures will range from 70 to 77 degrees on Sunday and dip further to the low 60s by Monday.
Drivers should remain alert for rapidly changing road conditions Friday and plan indoor activities for late Sunday. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items ahead of Friday’s wind gusts and monitor updates as another storm system approaches early next week.
Additional advisories may be issued Sunday night into Monday as rain spreads across the region.
