Davenport, Iowa – Clouds will gradually clear across eastern Iowa and western Illinois today, with afternoon highs pushing into the mid-80s—setting up a warm and humid weekend that may end with scattered storms.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, Saturday will bring mostly dry conditions and east winds at 5 to 10 mph. But by late Sunday afternoon, storm chances increase to as high as 50% for areas including Rock Island, Bettendorf, and Galesburg. Monday brings continued heat, with highs near 90°F and additional chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Localized downpours, gusty winds, and lightning are possible with stronger cells. Outdoor events on Sunday and Monday should have backup plans in place. Residents are advised to monitor radar updates, especially if traveling along I-74 or U.S. Route 61.

The storm pattern is typical for June in the region, where daytime heating and Gulf moisture can fuel pop-up storms. No severe weather is expected at this time, but isolated pockets of heavy rain are possible.

Rain chances taper off by Monday night. Another update will be issued if storm threats increase.
