Quad Cities, IA/IL – Residents across eastern Iowa and western Illinois should prepare for a cooler and wetter weekend, as scattered rain showers and storms are expected through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast calls for overnight lows in the low 60s, with rain chances ranging from 20 to 70 percent depending on the location. Some areas could see storm activity as high as 50 to 60 percent. Daytime highs will stay seasonable in the mid-70s to low 80s, but nighttime temperatures will dip into the upper 50s, bringing a noticeable chill.
According to the weather service, the best window for rain extends from Friday night through Sunday evening. Showers are expected to remain scattered, meaning not all locations will receive rainfall. Friday and Saturday carry a 20 to 40 percent chance of precipitation, while Sunday looks slightly wetter, with rain chances up to 50 percent in some communities.
Cooler temperatures will also settle into the region as the weekend progresses. Lows around 58 to 62 degrees each night may make for brisk mornings, while highs stay steady between 75 and 85 degrees. Forecasters recommend residents monitor local conditions, especially if planning outdoor events, as showers and storms may develop quickly.
