Davenport, IA – Residents across eastern Iowa and western Illinois may see showers and thunderstorms tonight, especially in areas south of Interstate 80. The National Weather Service (NWS) Quad Cities office said clouds will dominate the evening sky with temperatures holding mild in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

According to the NWS, the highest storm chances — ranging from 25 to 50 percent — will focus along a Fairfield, Iowa to Galesburg, Illinois line. Areas north of I-80 are more likely to remain dry, while those south of the corridor could encounter scattered storms late tonight into early Monday.

Forecasters noted that while widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated downpours and rumbles of thunder could briefly impact outdoor plans and overnight travel. Motorists are advised to be cautious on slick roads if showers develop.

The NWS said conditions will remain generally mild across the region, with cloud cover keeping overnight lows between 58 and 63 degrees. Cooler, drier air is expected to move in later this week, bringing more stable weather after tonight’s storm chances.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for updates, particularly if traveling south of I-80 where the storm risk is higher.
