Iowa-Illinois Weather Alert Today: 37° in Davenport With Freezing Drizzle Risk Along Highway 20

Low clouds press down over the Mississippi River this morning, and damp pavement glistens across the Quad Cities. Temperatures hover near 37 degrees in Moline and Davenport, just cold enough for patchy slick spots north of Highway 20. If you’re traveling along I-80 or I-74, watch bridges and shaded ramps where light drizzle could briefly freeze.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, areas along and north of the Highway 20 corridor may see pockets of freezing drizzle early. Surface temperatures are marginal, but untreated roads could turn slippery for a time. Conditions improve as readings climb toward 48 degrees this afternoon.

Clouds hold firm today with calm to light northeast winds. Tonight stays mostly cloudy with lows near 34 degrees. By Wednesday, scattered rain develops with highs around 52. Rain becomes more widespread Wednesday night, when chances rise to 70 percent and lows settle near 43.

Thursday keeps a damp feel with highs near 58 and additional rain chances. A more pronounced spring surge arrives Friday. Highs jump to 72 degrees with rain likely and thunderstorms possible. Showers continue into Friday night before skies gradually clear Saturday.

Sunshine returns Sunday with highs near 63, and early next week trends even warmer. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois.
