Davenport, Iowa – Warm summer weather will grip the Quad Cities through the weekend, but residents north of Interstate 80 could see gusty storms and hail by tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 20–40% chance of showers and storms this evening and Thursday, with a low-end severe threat focused on areas north of I-80. Isolated wind gusts strong enough to knock down branches and hail up to the size of quarters are possible, though forecasters say overall confidence in widespread impacts remains low.

Temperatures will climb steadily into the low 90s by Friday and Saturday, with mostly sunny skies for much of the region. However, scattered thunderstorms could return on Saturday, again posing a risk for brief downpours and minor wind damage. Cities like Dubuque, Freeport, and Clinton are most likely to see intermittent storms, while the Quad Cities area remains on the fringe of the storm zone.

Residents should stay weather-aware, especially if traveling north of I-80, and review severe weather alerts on NOAA Weather Radio or mobile apps. When thunder roars, go indoors.

Storm chances taper off Friday, but high heat remains in the picture through the Fourth of July.
