Davenport, Iowa – A warm, humid night is on tap for the Quad Cities region, with temperatures staying between 67 and 72 degrees and clouds slowly decreasing by late evening. Drivers and residents across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois should be alert for an isolated shower or storm, mainly southeast of the metro area.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, the chance for storms increases dramatically on Wednesday, with strong to severe thunderstorms possible through the afternoon and evening. Highs will surge to 83–90°F before a sharp cool-down Thursday. Gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding could impact roads, especially in low-lying areas and along the Mississippi River corridor. Emergency managers urge residents in Rock Island, Davenport, Moline, and Muscatine to review severe weather plans and avoid outdoor activities during active warnings.

Utilities may experience brief outages in areas hit by strong winds or lightning. Those with outdoor plans should keep cell phones charged and pay close attention to weather alerts. If traveling, check for road closures or hazardous driving conditions, particularly on I-74, US-61, and local rural roads.

The severe weather threat will decrease by Thursday, with temperatures dropping into the 70s and drier air moving in. More updates are expected as Wednesday’s storms develop. Stay tuned for additional advisories through late week.
