Davenport, IA – The final work week of October will begin with calm and mild weather before a wet system moves in by Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office.
Meteorologists say Monday will bring mostly sunny skies and seasonal temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 across eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Clouds will increase Monday night, followed by rain spreading from west to east throughout Tuesday.
According to the NWS, the heaviest and most persistent rainfall is expected in the darker green-shaded areas of the forecast map, including Fairfield and Fort Madison in Iowa, as well as Macomb, Illinois. Rain chances range from 50% west of the Mississippi River to as high as 80% across southeastern Iowa.
Tuesday’s highs will hover in the mid-50s, with cooler, breezy conditions expected Wednesday as the system exits. Forecasters also note that Halloween evening currently looks dry but chilly, with temperatures expected to fall into the 40s.
Drivers and commuters should plan for reduced visibility and wet roads during heavier downpours on Tuesday, particularly in southern and eastern Iowa.
The NWS says this will be the region’s first significant rainfall event in over a week, helping ease dry conditions in some areas as the month comes to a close.
