DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Quad Cities are in for a run of late-summer heat as highs climb into the low 90s through early next week, bringing dry skies but adding stress to those spending extended hours outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service, sunny conditions will dominate Friday through Monday with daily highs ranging from 89 to 93 degrees. Light south winds will keep humidity elevated, though no rain is expected to break the stretch of dry weather.

Davenport and surrounding Scott County communities can expect the warmest day on Sunday, when highs may top 93 degrees under clear skies. Nearby Rock Island and Bettendorf will see nearly identical conditions, making for an ideal weekend for outdoor festivals, farmers markets, and sports, but also prompting reminders to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity during the peak afternoon hours.

Evening relief will be modest, with overnight lows only dipping into the upper 60s to around 70. That means air conditioners will continue running steadily, putting added strain on the power grid during peak evening demand.

The heat is expected to hold until midweek, when slightly cooler air near 89 degrees arrives by Thursday.
