Davenport, Iowa – Parts of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois have been soaked with more than four inches of rain since Monday, flooding low-lying roads and fields as of Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, Hanover, Illinois in Jo Daviess County recorded the highest 3-day rainfall total with 4.25 inches through 7 a.m. July 30. Nearby areas like Winthrop, IA (3.63”), and Asbury, IA (3.49”) also saw significant accumulation, with widespread totals over 2 inches from Fairfield to Sigourney.

The heaviest rainfall blanketed communities along the Mississippi River corridor, including Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Davenport, and Moline. While urban flooding has been limited, rural areas are reporting ponding on secondary roads and minor field washouts. Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roads, especially in Buchanan, Keokuk, and Dubuque counties.

Rain tapered off by early Wednesday, but additional scattered showers remain possible through the evening. Local officials advise checking sump pumps, clearing drains, and preparing for more saturated ground ahead of any further storms.

More updates are expected if flood advisories are issued later Wednesday.
