The prolonged heat, paired with muggy overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 70s, may stretch into early next week—raising the risk of heat-related illness.
Communities in Buchanan, Clinton, Linn, Johnson, and Scott counties are among those under the watch, which covers both rural and urban regions where heat can compound due to pavement and limited shade.
