Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – Scattered thunderstorms may roll through the Quad Cities region late Monday afternoon, with the potential for damaging winds and localized flooding between 5 and 11 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, there’s a low to slight risk (Level 1–2 of 5) for severe storms, with 30% to 60% storm coverage possible primarily this evening and into the overnight hours. Damaging wind gusts are the main concern, with isolated flash flooding and lightning also possible.
Cities including Davenport, Moline, Cedar Rapids, and Sterling are under the threat window. Storms could move east at roughly 25 mph, and while the timing and strength remain uncertain, isolated cells could still pack a punch if storm development occurs. A warm air cap is currently limiting storm formation, but that could change by nightfall.
Residents should secure outdoor items, stay weather-aware, and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Travel could be impacted, especially on I-74, I-80, and U.S. Route 61 if heavy rain and winds develop.
More updates may be issued later today as confidence in storm development increases. Watches or warnings may follow if conditions escalate.
