Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – Scattered thunderstorms could roll through eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois Saturday afternoon, with the greatest risk for severe weather between 2 and 8 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, isolated severe storms may develop with damaging winds and heavy rainfall being the primary concerns. The threat area includes cities like Davenport, Moline, Iowa City, and Dubuque, where slow-moving cells could trigger flash flooding on already saturated ground.
Storm chances range from 50% to 80% across the region. While overall confidence in widespread severe weather remains low, the potential for downed trees, flooded roads, and small hail warrants close monitoring.
Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and secure outdoor items in advance. Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially during the evening hours when storms could linger past sundown.
Saturday’s threat is categorized as “low-end” but still capable of disruption, particularly with holiday travel and outdoor plans underway. Additional updates may follow as confidence in storm coverage increases.
