Davenport, Iowa – Rain and scattered thunderstorms could put a damper on Memorial Day weekend plans across the Quad Cities as wet weather returns Saturday and lingers through Monday.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, after a dry Thursday and Friday, rain chances increase to 50% on Saturday with a slight chance (20–30%) for isolated thunderstorms Saturday evening into early Sunday. Daily chances for light showers will persist through Memorial Day, with cooler-than-average temperatures holding in the mid to upper 60s across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
Cities including Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and Bettendorf could see on-and-off showers beginning Saturday afternoon. Outdoor events may face brief delays or cancellations, particularly during peak afternoon hours. While severe weather is not expected, a few rumbles of thunder and isolated downpours are possible.
Residents planning to travel or host gatherings should stay weather-aware and consider alternate indoor plans. Umbrellas and rain jackets will be useful for parades, barbecues, or cemetery visits.
Cooler temps and scattered rain chances are expected to continue through Monday, with more stable conditions likely returning midweek. Additional advisories could be issued as the weekend progresses.
