Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – A wave of hotter, more humid air is set to roll into the Quad Cities region this week, with lingering wildfire smoke keeping skies hazy and limiting air quality through Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will gradually rise each day, reaching the low to mid 80s by Tuesday, while humidity ramps up across both eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

The smoky haze, carried in from distant wildfires, will keep visibility down and may impact residents with asthma or other breathing issues. Most of the area will stay dry, but the muggy conditions could make outdoor activities uncomfortable, especially for children and sensitive groups. Cities like Davenport, Moline, and Bettendorf should expect reduced air quality and warm, stuffy afternoons. Health officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity, especially for older adults and anyone with lung or heart conditions.

Drivers may also notice filtered sunlight and a faint smell of smoke in the air through at least Tuesday morning. With no rain expected to clear out the haze, residents should keep windows closed overnight and run air conditioning to reduce indoor smoke exposure.

More updates are expected if conditions worsen, but the hazy skies are likely to linger until midweek.
