Davenport, Iowa – Snow is blanketing the region Monday afternoon, with up to 4 inches expected across eastern Iowa and western Illinois, creating hazardous conditions for evening commuters.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight for cities including Davenport, Clinton, Moline, Sterling, and Macomb. The advisory warns of total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches, with the heaviest bands falling during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Roads across Scott, Clinton, Muscatine, Rock Island, and Bureau counties are already becoming slick. Icy patches are being reported on I-80 near Bettendorf and U.S. 67 near Monmouth. Officials urge drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check updated road conditions via 511ia.org in Iowa or gettingaroundillinois.com in Illinois.

Even areas with lighter snowfall could see reduced visibility and black ice, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces. Crews are salting primary roads, but side streets and rural highways may remain slippery into the night.

The snow will taper off by midnight, but roads may remain icy into early Tuesday. Additional advisories are possible if temperatures drop further overnight.
