DAVENPORT, Iowa – Drivers across the Quad Cities could face low visibility early Tuesday as patchy dense fog forms along the Mississippi River, raising concerns for morning commuters.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, fog development is most likely west of the Mississippi River, where visibility could quickly drop to a quarter-mile or less during the early hours. The hazard is expected to lift by late morning as skies gradually clear.
The fog may affect travel on key routes including Interstate 80, Interstate 74, and U.S. Highway 61 through Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island. Local emergency officials urge motorists to use headlights, allow extra space between vehicles, and avoid sudden lane changes in low-visibility zones.
After the morning fog clears, conditions will turn quiet with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s. No hazardous weather is expected for the remainder of the week, with mostly sunny days and comfortable nights forecast through the weekend.
More advisories are not anticipated at this time, but the National Weather Service will continue to monitor visibility concerns during early morning hours.
