Davenport, IA – Bitter cold temperatures will persist through Friday, but relief is on the horizon as a warming trend is expected to begin this weekend, with highs in the 40s projected by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s high will reach 26°F with increasing clouds and light winds up to 10 mph by the evening. Overnight lows will dip to 24°F, but calmer conditions will prevail. Saturday promises sunshine and highs near 38°F, while gusty west winds may reach 20 mph.

Sunday will continue the trend with mostly sunny skies and a high of 38°F, setting the stage for a significant warm-up Monday. Highs are forecast to climb to 43°F, providing a reprieve from the week’s frigid start. Overnight lows will stay above freezing at 28°F, a notable shift for late January.

Residents are advised to take precautions for the cold nights ahead, particularly Friday night, when wind chills may fall below zero. For those planning weekend activities, Sunday afternoon offers the best outdoor conditions. Drivers along I-74 should watch for gusty winds Saturday that could affect visibility.

Next week’s temperatures in the 40s will be a welcome change, but residents should remain weather-aware as conditions can shift quickly. Stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service.
