Iowa Driver Involved in Fatal Crash in Kankakee County

Kankakee, IL – Two people were killed in a motor vehicle accident involving an Iowa driver early Monday in Manteno Township, Illinois.

According to the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred at 4:55 a.m. near 6500 East on 12000 North Road. A westbound Toyota Rav-4 driven by Earnest L. Fisher of Waterloo, Iowa, crossed the centerline, left the roadway, and went down an embankment into a creek. Fisher sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Riverside Medical Center. 

The vehicle’s other occupants, Tiana S. Stewart, 37, of Woodstock, Illinois, and her 18-year-old son, Romel Stewart, of Elgin, Illinois, were declared deceased. 

Autopsies were conducted on Monday. The investigation is ongoing by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office and Will County Sheriff’s Department.
