Davenport, IA – Families across the Quad Cities have a chance to make a local impact today as the Davenport Police Association hosts its annual holiday Toy Drive at NorthPark Mall. The all-day donation event runs Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. near the Firestone entrance and supports children served through Family Resources programs.

According to the Davenport Police Department, donations of new, unwrapped toys will help support youth in Family Resources’ Domestic Violence Shelters, Child Advocacy Programs, services for victims of sex assault, and other at-risk assistance programs. Police said this year’s need is especially high as local shelters continue to support a growing number of families.

Organizers noted that the Toy Drive aims to bring comfort and joy to children experiencing crisis, while also easing the financial strain on families who rely on emergency services. In addition to the main donation site at NorthPark Mall, two alternate drop-off locations are open today: Chuck’s Tap on 6th Street and the Davenport Police Station on North Harrison Street.

Family Resources serves children across Davenport, Bettendorf, Scott County, and surrounding Quad Cities communities, providing emergency housing, counseling, advocacy, and support services throughout the year. Toy donations collected today will be distributed directly to children in these programs ahead of the holiday season.

Residents who stop by the event can donate toys of any size or type, and monetary contributions are also accepted. Police encourage community members to participate if they are able, noting that even one donated gift can make a significant difference.
