Davenport, Iowa – Clearing skies and cooling temperatures could lead to patchy fog across the Quad Cities region overnight Monday, with lows dropping into the mid-40s. Drivers in eastern Iowa and western Illinois may encounter reduced visibility early Tuesday morning, especially in low-lying and rural areas.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, overnight temperatures are expected to fall between 43°F and 46°F under partly to mostly clear skies. The calm and dry conditions create ideal circumstances for fog to form in the early morning hours of May 6, particularly along the Mississippi River and major roadways like I-74, I-80, and U.S. Route 61.
Cities including Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island should prepare for potentially slower commutes Tuesday morning. Residents are advised to use low-beam headlights, allow extra travel time, and avoid unnecessary driving in areas with limited visibility.
Despite the brief fog risk, spring weather will return in full force during the day, with highs in the low to mid-70s expected through Friday. Sunshine and dry skies dominate the weekly outlook, offering a welcome stretch of mild conditions for the region.
