Davenport, IA – Residents of Iowa and Illinois should prepare for patchy dense fog and potential flooding early this morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), visibility is expected to drop below a quarter mile until 8 a.m., primarily along and south of I-80. The NWS advises motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra braking distance when driving in foggy conditions.

The dense fog will create rapidly changing visibility over short distances, posing significant risks for early morning commuters. The NWS recommends drivers plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use fog lights if available.

The weather forecast for the day includes a high of 81°F in Davenport, with a 60% chance of rain mainly in the morning. Temperatures will drop to a low of 64°F overnight. Looking ahead, the weekend promises clearer skies with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s and lows in the mid-50s. Early next week, scattered showers are expected to return, with temperatures ranging from the high 70s to low 80s.

Staying aware of current weather conditions and following safety tips can help residents navigate the dense fog and potential flooding safely.
