Spokane, WA – The National Weather Service in Spokane is warning residents across eastern Washington and north Idaho to prepare for strong southwest winds through 7 a.m. PST Tuesday, December 9, 2025, as a powerful weather system continues to sweep across the region.
The Wind Advisory covers a large portion of the Inland Northwest, including Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Pullman, Lewiston, Colville, Sandpoint, and the Palouse region. Winds are expected to reach 20 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph in exposed areas.
Communities in the Central and Northern Panhandle Mountains, Spokane area, and Columbia Basin may experience scattered power outages and downed tree limbs, particularly where soils are saturated from recent rain. Loose outdoor objects could be blown around, and driving may become hazardous for high-profile vehicles on open roadways such as I-90, US 2, and US 195.
The National Weather Service advises residents to secure outdoor items, use caution when driving, and stay alert for power outages overnight. Winds are expected to gradually diminish by early Tuesday morning, though breezy conditions may persist into the day.
