San Diego, CA – The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Flash Flood Watch for parts of southwestern California, including San Bernardino County Mountains, Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills, and Orange County inland areas. The alert remains in effect from 5 a.m. Tuesday through Tuesday afternoon, October 14, 2025.
Forecasters warn that heavy rain could lead to flash flooding and debris flows in and near recent burn scars — including the Bridge, Line, Apple, El Dorado, and Airport Fire scars. Rainfall rates could reach 0.4 to 0.9 inches per hour at times.
Communities at risk include Big Bear Lake, Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead, Anaheim, Irvine, Mission Viejo, and Santa Ana. The NWS cautions that even moderate rain may cause rapid runoff, mudslides, and flooding of low-lying and urban areas.
Residents near burn scar zones are urged to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and be ready to act quickly if Flash Flood Warnings are issued. “Heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding and debris flows,” forecasters said.
The weather system is expected to taper off by late Tuesday evening, but emergency officials advise remaining vigilant throughout the day.
