Leslie Township, MI – Drivers in southern Ingham County faced major delays Wednesday morning after a series of semi-truck crashes forced the shutdown of southbound US-127 during heavy snowfall.

According to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a jackknifed semi-truck on southbound US-127 just south of Bellevue Road in Leslie Township. Investigators said the truck lost control and slid into the median as snow intensified across the area.

While traffic was backing up from the initial crash, a second semi-truck traveling southbound toward the scene was unable to stop. Authorities said the truck lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Moments later, a third semi-truck and a passenger vehicle also slid off the right side of the road, adding to the growing incident footprint. One additional passenger vehicle sustained tire damage after striking debris left behind from the first crash.

Despite the chain-reaction incidents, officials confirmed no injuries were reported.

Southbound US-127 was fully shut down until approximately 1:40 p.m., as crews worked to clear vehicles, debris, and treat slick roadway conditions. All lanes have since reopened.

The response involved multiple agencies, including the Leslie Police Department, Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Leslie Fire, Mason Fire, and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

Drivers across Ingham County, the Greater Lansing area, and Mid-Michigan were urged to use caution as snow-covered roads continue to impact travel.

Anyone with additional information related to the crashes is asked to contact Sgt. Adam Jackson with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office at 517-676-8212.
