Locke Township, MI – Drivers in southern Ingham County faced emergency response activity Wednesday morning after a serious head-on crash on M-52 sent two men to the hospital, including one with critical injuries.
According to the Ingham County Sheriffโs Office, deputies were dispatched around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday to the area of M-52 and Bell Oak Road in Locke Township for a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a pickup truck.
Investigators said a vehicle driven by a 42-year-old Owosso man was traveling northbound on M-52 when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old Laingsburg man. No passengers were inside either vehicle at the time of the collision.
Both drivers became trapped inside their vehicles and had to be extricated by emergency crews. The Owosso driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with critical injuries, while the Laingsburg driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.
The Northeast Ingham Emergency Service Authority (NEISA) and the Williamston Police Department assisted deputies at the scene as traffic was impacted along the state highway during the response and investigation.
The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team has taken over the case and is working to determine the cause of the crash, including what led the northbound vehicle to cross the center line.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to contact Sgt. Adam Jackson with the Ingham County Sheriffโs Office at 517-676-8212.
