Indianapolis, Indiana – Wind chills across Indianapolis and much of Central Indiana will plunge into the single digits Monday night through early Wednesday, bringing the coldest stretch of the season so far. Gusty winds and already cold air will combine to make conditions feel as low as 5°F in some areas, including Kokomo, Lafayette, and Muncie.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, wind gusts will increase Sunday night to 30–35 mph before subsiding into Monday. The colder air mass will arrive late Monday, dropping wind chills overnight into the 5–15°F range. The bitter cold will persist through early Wednesday, with Indianapolis expected to see wind chills between 6°F and 10°F at times.

Muncie and Kokomo could see some of the sharpest wind chills, especially during the early morning hours Tuesday and Wednesday. The NWS urges residents to dress in multiple layers, limit time outdoors, and ensure homes and vehicles are winter-ready. Winds will lighten Monday, but the persistent chill will remain, especially overnight.

The cold snap is expected to ease by midweek, but another Arctic surge remains possible later in the week.
