Indianapolis, IN – Scattered showers are moving across central Indiana this afternoon, bringing brief rain and gusty winds that could make for tricky travel, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Meteorologists say the showers, developing over western Indiana, are moving quickly east-northeast and will impact much of the region through about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Wind gusts between 35 and 45 mph are possible in spots, potentially leading to slick roads and reduced visibility during the afternoon commute.

According to the National Weather Service, while rainfall totals are expected to remain light, the main concern will be localized wet roads and strong, brief wind gusts accompanying the showers. No severe weather is anticipated, but residents are advised to use caution, especially when driving on open roads or highways.

Communities from Terre Haute to Indianapolis and Anderson can expect passing rain bands before conditions gradually improve later this evening as the system exits the area.

More updates are expected if additional showers redevelop overnight.
