Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents will notice a sharp cool down tonight, as temperatures fall into the low 50s, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. The shift comes after two weeks of warmer evenings, with Indianapolis expected to dip below 60 degrees for the first time this month.

According to the weather service, cooler air is arriving from the northwest and will bring forecast lows of 54 degrees in Indianapolis, 51 in Lafayette, 50 in Terre Haute, and 53 in Seymour. Areas west of the I-69 corridor could see isolated readings in the upper 40s, particularly in colder spots.

The weather service added that southeast showers were possible this morning, though daytime highs will remain in the mid to upper 70s through Friday. This temporary cooldown is expected to provide a noticeable change for residents who have experienced mild, humid nights over the past two weeks.

Travelers and early risers should prepare for cooler conditions overnight, while those in rural areas may notice the biggest temperature drops.
