Indianapolis, Ind. – A quiet and sunny Sunday across Indiana will give way to a turbulent start to the workweek, with severe thunderstorms expected Tuesday and a 90% chance of rain across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, temperatures will climb into the mid-70s today under mostly sunny skies. Rain chances increase Monday with scattered showers (50% chance), but the main threat arrives Tuesday, when strong storms could bring damaging winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours across central Indiana.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the region under a slight risk for severe weather on Tuesday, particularly from late morning through evening. Areas including Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie could see strong wind gusts and localized flooding. Highs will dip into the low 70s Tuesday, with overnight lows in the mid-60s.

Residents should prepare now by securing outdoor items, charging mobile devices, and reviewing severe weather plans. Travel disruptions and power outages are possible during the peak of the storms.

Storms may linger into Wednesday morning with another 60% chance of rain, before cooler air moves in midweek. Additional alerts could be issued as conditions develop.
