Indianapolis, IN – After a dry start to the week, rain is set to return across Central Indiana beginning Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Forecasters say the best chance for widespread rainfall will occur from Tuesday night through Wednesday night, with showers continuing into Thursday before conditions improve ahead of Halloween.

Communities including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie could see steady rain through midweek, with rain probabilities peaking near 75% on Wednesday. The system is expected to bring moderate rainfall totals and could result in wet commutes and reduced visibility for drivers.

By Thursday evening, showers will taper off, paving the way for a dry and seasonably cool Halloween night Friday, ideal for trick-or-treating.

Temperatures will remain mild through midweek, before gradually cooling behind the rain system. Residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy through Wednesday and to plan for slick road conditions during heavier downpours.
