Indianapolis, Ind. – Patchy fog could slow early commuters Friday morning across central Indiana, but otherwise quiet weather will settle in tonight before a stretch of cooler days ahead. Temperatures will remain mild through the weekend with highs in the 80s Friday and Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, skies will stay partly cloudy Friday with lows dipping into the mid-60s. By Saturday, isolated showers may develop across portions of the state, with slightly warmer highs in the mid-80s before conditions turn cooler next week.

Drivers should be cautious in low-lying areas Friday morning where fog may reduce visibility, especially along rural roads and interstates leading into Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Lafayette. While showers Saturday are expected to remain scattered, outdoor plans could see brief interruptions.

Next week brings a stronger shift in temperatures. Meteorologists note high confidence in below-normal conditions, with lows dropping near 50 degrees multiple nights. Residents are encouraged to keep jackets handy and prepare for a fall-like stretch unusual for late August.

Temperatures are expected to rebound gradually, but the cooler pattern may linger through much of the week with little chance of extreme heat returning soon.
