Indianapolis is starting the week on a chilly note, but a noticeable warm-up is on the way. This Monday, temperatures are climbing out of the recent deep cold, with afternoon highs ranging from 21 to 28 degrees under partly cloudy skies. While still cold, it will feel noticeably better than recent mornings as the region begins a steady warming trend.
By Tuesday, conditions continue to improve. Partly cloudy skies remain, and highs are expected to reach 35 to 40 degrees, marking the first return to near-seasonal temperatures for many central Indiana communities. Overnight lows Tuesday night will dip into the mid to upper teens, but the overall trend remains upward.
The warmest stretch arrives midweek. Wednesday brings partly sunny skies and milder air, with highs between 38 and 45 degrees and overnight lows near freezing. This sets the stage for an even warmer Thursday, when temperatures are forecast to climb into the upper 40s to lower 50s, a significant change from Monday’s cold start.
Thursday also brings the next best chance for precipitation, with rain expected as temperatures rise above freezing. While no significant winter weather impacts are anticipated at this time, wet roads could affect travel, especially during the morning or evening commute.
Overall, Monday marks the turning point toward a much more comfortable pattern for Indianapolis. Residents can expect improving outdoor conditions as the week progresses, though keeping a jacket handy will still be necessary early in the week. By late week, the return of milder air will feel like a welcome break from winter’s harsher grip.
