Indianapolis, Ind. – Central Indiana residents can expect a hot, humid stretch through Tuesday night, with the heat index climbing as high as 105 degrees in some areas. Temperatures will run near to slightly above normal, with highs between 85 and 92 degrees and lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, skies will remain mostly clear through Sunday night, offering dry conditions for outdoor plans. By Monday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop northwest and north of Indianapolis, with storms spreading across central and southern Indiana Tuesday and Tuesday night. Winds will remain light, generally under 15 mph, adding to the stagnant feel of the air.

Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. With heat indexes expected to remain elevated into midweek, cooling centers may be needed in some communities.

Conditions are expected to shift midweek as storm chances linger into Wednesday, possibly bringing localized downpours and brief gusty winds.
