Indianapolis, Ind. – Dangerous heat will persist across Central Indiana this weekend, with afternoon heat indices climbing near or above 100 degrees and limited relief from passing storms. The National Weather Service warns that an isolated strong storm could develop, mainly across northern and northeastern portions of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, highs will push into the mid-90s Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows only dipping into the low-70s. While most areas will stay dry, occasional low storm chances remain through Monday, especially in northern counties. Any storm that forms could produce gusty winds and heavy downpours.

Residents should limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Those without air conditioning should seek cooling centers or shaded areas.

The heat is expected to persist into Monday before temperatures ease slightly midweek. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
