Indianapolis, Indiana – Central Indiana is settling into a milder January pattern today, with temperatures climbing well above recent norms before clouds, fog, and a chance of drizzle arrive heading into Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, today will be partly cloudy and noticeably warmer, with afternoon highs reaching the mid 40s to lower 50s across the region. Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus, and Lafayette are all expected to see highs near or just above 50, while northern counties remain slightly cooler but still mild for early January.
Patchy fog is expected to develop late tonight as temperatures settle into the mid 30s to lower 40s. Reduced visibility is possible in low-lying and rural areas, particularly during the Tuesday morning commute along corridors such as I-65, I-69, and I-70.
Tuesday turns mostly cloudy with a chance for drizzle, especially during the daytime hours. While rainfall amounts will be light, damp roads and lingering fog could slow travel. Highs Tuesday range from the upper 40s across northern Indiana to the upper 50s farther south, keeping conditions well above freezing.
Wednesday remains mild with highs generally in the upper 40s to mid 50s and no significant precipitation expected. Drivers are encouraged to use caution during foggy periods and remain alert for slick spots during drizzle.
Forecasters note this mild pattern is expected to continue through midweek, with additional weather changes possible later in the week. Updates will be issued as conditions evolve.
