Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents could see the first snowflakes of the season today, as light snow showers develop across the region this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
Forecasters say snow accumulations of up to 1 inch are possible, mainly along and north of Interstate 70. The snow is expected to stick primarily to grassy or elevated surfaces, while roadways should remain wet due to warmer pavement temperatures.
Temperatures will stay steady or slowly fall through the 30s throughout the day, and northwest wind gusts of 20–30 mph will make it feel even colder, with wind chill values in the 20s.
The cold weather pattern will persist through Tuesday, with below-normal temperatures and breezy conditions expected to continue.
Drivers should remain cautious during the evening commute, as bursts of snow could briefly reduce visibility.
