INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Central Indiana will trade its fall warmth for winter-like chill by the end of the weekend, as a sharp cold front sweeps across the region. Temperatures near 70°F today and Friday will crash into the 30s by Sunday, with rain showers possibly mixing with flurries late Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, robust southwest breezes will keep the area mild through Friday, with highs ranging from 66°F to 71°F across Indianapolis, Muncie, and Vincennes. Rain chances return Friday afternoon and evening as a developing low-pressure system approaches from the Plains.
The colder air arrives Saturday night into Sunday, bringing a steady temperature drop through the day. Lows Sunday night could dip into the low 20s—among the coldest readings so far this season. Light rain or snow showers are possible north of I-70 late Sunday into early Monday, but no accumulation is expected.
Residents should plan for a blustery, sharply colder start to next week. Forecasters advise winterizing outdoor faucets and protecting sensitive plants before the coldest air moves in.
