Indianapolis, IN – A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for much of central and west-central Indiana from late Friday night through Sunday afternoon, as a strong winter system approaches the region, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

The alert includes counties such as Marion, Tippecanoe, Boone, Clinton, Howard, Madison, and Vigo, covering major cities including Indianapolis, Lafayette, Terre Haute, and Muncie.

Forecasters say 3 to 6 inches of snow are possible across the area, with heaviest snowfall expected Saturday into early Sunday. The storm may lead to snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and difficult travel conditions, particularly along Interstates 65, 69, and 70.

Meteorologists note that while snowfall totals remain somewhat uncertain, even moderate accumulations could create hazardous driving conditions during one of the busiest post-Thanksgiving travel weekends.

Residents are urged to monitor forecasts closely, delay travel if possible, and prepare vehicles for winter conditions by keeping extra food, water, and emergency supplies on hand.

Updates will be issued as the storm’s track becomes clearer. For the latest information, visit weather.gov/ind or check 511in.org for statewide road conditions.
