Indianapolis, IN – Thanksgiving travelers in central Indiana may face bursts of snow and reduced visibility Wednesday as temperatures tumble into the low 30s and winds pick up behind an advancing cold front.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, scattered snow flurries and isolated snow showers are expected to develop as early as 6 a.m. Wednesday, especially along and north of the I-70 corridor. While most areas will see minimal impact, a few localized bursts of snow could briefly cover roads and drop visibility, particularly through early afternoon.
The greatest coverage of snow showers is expected midday, with any minor road accumulations likely occurring after noon. Officials caution drivers to plan for the “reasonable worst-case scenario” involving brief travel impacts, especially on untreated roadways.
The extent of snowfall south of I-70 remains uncertain, as does the intensity of showers. Commuters and holiday travelers should monitor for updates and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
Cold and windy weather will persist into Wednesday night, with additional advisories possible if snow bands strengthen or shift.
